RC Festival 2010 Festival report 2010
Quote from our club secretary: ‘The weekend was mighty!!’
Although entries were down at least by 1000 the 2010 AIRC Festival held at Stradbally Estate, Portlaoise was a resounding success. As regards our club we had 14 members travel down and the results are as follows:
George is the Hero of the hour winning the Individual Intermediate Show Jumping Competition in grand style- 156 in class!! A fantastic achievement!
Hilary was second and Pat Tierney was sixth in the Veteran Rider class which had over 50 competitors and where members from all grades competed against each other.
Evanne got third in both the Veteran Rider and the Primary Individual Show Jumping. The primary showjumping had over 70 competitors so this was a great result for Evanne and Bella.
Ivy was 4th in her Dressage Section in the Advanced Primary class which is always hotly contested.
The team of three Intermediates, David, Hilary and Jeremy with help from Sharron Murphy on Toraigh from the Redhills Club finished in 6th place in the Team Championships!! A fantastic result for this team in which is always the biggest team event of the festival.
Another quote from Heather ‘As you have possibly gathered the partying was mighty!!’.
A massive thank-you to Hilary who was absolutely marvellous organising the food and also to Ivy and Evanne who helped in this capacity as well.
Also many thanks to Meredith for bringing all the equipment needed over the weekend. _____________________________________________________________

NER Team Showjumping Qualifier
On Sunday last twelve of our members and supporters travelled over to Kernans Crossmaglen for the North East Regions RDS Qualifier. There were 17 teams in total , included were the three competitive teams from Castle Leslie . After a long day of competition with in excess of 130 rounds of jumping the Cavallo team eventually won out after a close jump off with neighbouring team Gap o' North. Judge and jury for the entire competition were club members Heather and Stephen. Double clears were few and far between on the day but members Meredith , Louise and Jim showed the way for their respected teams.
Photographs can be viewed on www.jumpinaction.net
See George and Penny showing us the perfect jumping position below!

East Down PC - ODE Monday 5th April
A very wild blustery day saw severl members brave the conditions at their first one day event of the year hosted by East Down Pony Club at Tyrella, Co. Down. It was a new venue for most of the members, but I think they will all agree the venue is worth the trip as it is probably one of the few places that can run a full one day event at this time of year. Results as follows:
Anne Bowe on Breeze - 16th in the 2'9" class finishing with only time penalities to add to her dressage score. Well done for your first full one day event!
Barbara Johns on Woodie - 14th in the 3'3" class
Pamel Woods on Cecil - 9th in the 3'3" class
Dawn Clerkin on MJ - 6th in the 3'3" class
Fiona Gilliland also finished 3rd in this same class.
Well done everybody... and fair play for braving the weather!
